Prepare your papers
- Proof of ownership and the original purchase documents.
- CE documents, manuals and, if it applies, registration papers.
- All invoices and service records, sorted by date.
Prepare the boat
- Clean the boat inside and out, and remove personal items.
- Fix small defects, they often scare buyers more than they cost.
- Make sure the engine starts easily and batteries are charged.
Photos and description
- Take bright photos of the whole boat, the deck, cabin, engine and helm.
- Describe the boat honestly, including known defects.
- Mention the engine hours, equipment and recent maintenance.
Price
- Compare similar boats of the same model, age and condition.
- A broker or surveyor can help with a realistic asking price.
Viewings and handover
- Many buyers ask for a survey or a test trip. Agree on this in writing.
- Use a written purchase contract that states the price, what is included and the handover date.
- Hand over all keys, papers and manuals on the day of transfer.
